Manama, Dec. 20. (BNA) – Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry is set to organise an international event on December 24 to break the world record for the maximum number of people planting flowers simultaneously and enter the Guinness Book of Records.
The event, approved by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, will be patronised by Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa, the son of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
Participants will form the words “Al-Malik Hamad” (King Hamad) with the same flowers to congratulate HM the King on the kingdom’s National Days.
The Ministry added that a jury from the Guinness Book of Records will attend the floral event and recognise it as the biggest in the world.
On the occasion, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Juma’a Al Ka’abi extended sincere congratulations to HM the King, the government and the Bahraini people on the Kingdom’s glorious National Days.
He said that the Ministry had formed a group of experts to prepare for the event, in cooperation with the Guinness Book of Records in London.
He added that the current record was achieved by 636 participants in an event organised by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (UK), at Butt’s Close Park at Hitchin, UK, on 2 October 2010, noting that 800 Bahraini participants will use 35,000 red and white flowers during the floral event set be held in area opposite Awali roundabout as a token of love and gratitude to HM the King.
The ministry is cooperating with the Education and Interior ministries and the Southern Governorate to prepare the site of the celebration.
