Manama, Oct. 15 (BNA)– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the election of Egypt with a clear majority of votes as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for two years.
“The Ministry affirms that this election demonstrates Egypt’s important status within the international community and evidences the active role and positive efforts of the Egyptian diplomacy in fostering regional and international peace and security,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The Ministry congratulates the Arab Republic of Egypt, and reiterates that Egypt’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council represents an important and pivotal step in supporting Arab causes and a significant stimulus for Egypt’s tireless efforts to settle the conflicts and crises challenging the states of the region as well for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions in a manner that serves Arab interest and invigorates the constructive role of the international community to address all challenges, particularly, violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
