Bahrain witnesses violence escalation

MANAMA, March 14 (Xinhua) — Bahrain witnessed on Thursday the escalation of violence amid the calls for a general strike by activist groups.

In several villages, violence aggravated with many roads blocked and cars torched, leaving a number of policemen injured, according to a statement issued by the assistant police chief.

The Education Ministry said that eight schools were attacked on Thursday morning, some of which were poured oil at the entrances and others’ gates locked with chains.

Al Wefaq National Islamic Society said that as of Thursday afternoon, more than 10 injuries have been reported.

Bahrain has witnessed the ongoing violence in the past two years.
