Artist’s house open for public
The culture ministry has decided to start renovation of the house of late Bahraini artist Mohammed Zuwaid which will be opened for public viewing in 2015 marking Zuwaid’s 32nd death anniversary.
The renovation will be carried out under ministry’s “Our Heritage is Our Wealth” theme.
Some of the artist’s belongings will go on display for the first time, including his famous lute which accompanied him for years.
The artist’s family highly appreciated the kind gesture by Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa when she met Zuwaid’s son and announced the project.
Zuwaid started his career in the 1930’s and later became “the ambassador of the Bahraini songs”.
He has rendered about 300 soulful songs and had the honour of receiving primary education in music by legendary singer Mohammed bin Faris.
