The court is accusing Al Hashimi of inciting hatred of a sect and insulting the king, Alwefaq.net reported.
Al Wefaq National Islamic Society said the court’s ruling represents a “collapse of justice” and shows the judiciary’s lack of integrity.
The charges Al Hasimi is facing were based on a Friday-sermon where he had spoke about verses from the Quran as well as facts in history. Ironically, the Bahraini judiciary has remained silent towards the sectarian and hatred-inciting sermons and speeches delivered by others in indication that the regime is feeding and supporting these tribunes.
The Bahraini regime had dissolved the Shiite clerics council in Bahrain within its ongoing sectarian campaign to pursuit and tighten restrictions on clerics and citizens.
