Bahraini dies during visit to Mashhad

MANAMA: A Bahraini died during a visit to Iran, officials confirmed yesterday.

Reports of a Bahraini’s death while abroad in Mashhad were confirmed by an official from the Bahrain Embassy in Tehran.

The official told the GDN that the embassy had received a call informing about the man’s death, but no repatriation was requested.

“We received a call this morning (Wednesday) informing us of the death, but the man who called said they wanted to have the burial in Mashhad,” he said.

“If they wanted to repatriate the body, the embassy would have helped them in the process.

“However, as that was not requested, we asked for a copy of the individual’s passport and death certificate in order to lodge the death with authorities in Bahrain.”
The official said the embassy was yet to receive the documents.
