Bahraini jailed for beating teacher who told him to stop using phone during exam

A Bahraini teenager has reportedly had his three-month jail term for assaulting a teacher upheld.

The student was convicted of insulting, spitting on and beating the teacher after he was told not to use his mobile phone during an exam at the Al Jabriya Technical School, Gulf Daily News reported.

He held the teacher by the neck and threw a table on him.

After the assault, he left the exam room to find a chair, which he threw into the room.

The teenager had appealed the sentence but it was upheld by Bahrain’s High Criminal Court.
