Bahraini minister denies report on violence escalation

MANAMA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) — Bahraini Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa on Friday denied media report that there has been escalation of violence in the kingdom recently.

The minister said that Bahrain’s security situation is under control, despite reports by the West claiming Bahrain is facing instability.

“Some organizations and even some countries release false information that creates an incorrect picture of our country,” he charged.

His remarks come on the day when opposition groups announced their “1,000 days of unrest.”

Bahrain witnessed anti-government protests in early 2011. Opposition groups last month pulled out from the National Dialogue after their leader was arrested on charges of inciting terrorism.
