Bahraini-Tunisian joint cooperation discussed

Manama, June9(BNA)Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Deputy President Dr. Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al-Khalifa and SCW Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari today received Tunisian Minister of Youth, Sport, Women and Family Saber Bouatay.

Tunisian Ambassador to Bahrain Mohammed bin Yusuf has also attended the meeting at the Bahrain Women’s Development Centre (REYADAT). Dr. Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al-Khalifa welcomed the Tunisian minister, stressing the importance of expanding joint cooperation and exchanging expertise. A presentation was held on the sidelines of the meeting, outlining the role of the council in carrying out the National Strategy for Bahraini Women’s development.
The Tunisian minister was briefed on the Bahraini model of integrating women’s needs in the development plans and the equal opportunity units established in ministries and government departments. The minister commended the efforts of the council, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, to empower women.
He stressed the importance of expanding joint cooperation, exchanging visits and experiences relating to women’s empowerment and efforts to integrate their needs in national development schemes. He was updated on recent SCW publications, including books titled “Bahraini Women in the Era of HM King Hamad”, ” National Strategy for the Development of Bahraini Women”. The minister then toured Bahrain Women’s Development Centre (REYADAT) which includes 52 diverse economic incubators. REYADAT director Shada Al-Jalahma gave an update on various outlets and support services which enable citizens, residents and tourism to get an idea about Bahraini women’s entrepreneurship fledgling experience.
