Manama, Feb1(BNA)A ceremony was held today at the Sheraton Hotel in honour of Bahrain veteran handballer Said Jowhar who retired after a landmark career in the national team and Al-Ahly Club.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa patronized the event. The ceremony was also attended by SCYS first deputy chairman and Bahrain Athletics Society (BAS) President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, International Handball Federation (IHF) President Dr. Hassan Mustapha and other prominent sport officials from Bahrain and abroad.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa paid tribute to retiree Said Jowhar for his landmark sport career, stressing his exemplary dedication, conduct, ethical commitment and contribution to promoting Bahraini sport.
He cited his excellent performance which enabled Bahrain to book spot in the 2011 World Men’s Handball Championship. Moaness Al-Murdi addressed the ceremony thanking Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for patronizing the ceremony, hailing the honouree for his landmark achievements. The honouree, Said Jowhar, who was presented with commemorative gifts, took pride in his memorable career alongside fellow players, stressing their contribution in enhancing the national team and Al-Ahly Club.
