Bahrain’s Gulf Air Increases Summer Services To Beirut, Bangkok And Amman

Gulf Air’s services to all three destinations were reduced recently due to instability in those regions.

Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air is increasing its services to popular summer destinations including Beirut, Bangkok and Amman.

The airline’s servieces to Amman will go up to 17 flights a week from July 20. Flights to Beirut will jump to nine weekly flights and Bangkok will receive seven extra weekly flights starting July 25. The extra summer services to Amman will run until October 25, and summer services to Beirut and Bangkok will end on September 14 and September 27, respectively.

Gulf Air’s services to all three destinations have been reduced recently due to instability in those regions.

Gulf Air’s acting chief commercial officer, Ahmed Janahi said: “With the summer and Eid holidays fast approaching we are seeing an increase in travel demand to some of the airline’s most popular destinations. Our additional flights to Amman, Beirut and Bangkok follow our recently increased frequencies to Cairo, Istanbul and Larnaca, as well as the launch of our newest destination, Athens.

“These additional frequencies to Amman, Beirut and Bangkok allow more weekly connectivity for passengers travelling from across our network to any of these three cities, via Bahrain.”

Bahrain’s national carrier announced recently that its annual losses fell by 52 per cent in 2013 as it neared the end of a five-year restructuring. Its losses reduced by more than $265.25 million resulting in its strongest earnings in eight years. The airline did not give the actual profit or revenue figures in its statement.

The airline has cut about 27 per cent of its staff as part of the restructuring. It retired 14 aircraft in 2013 and now has a fleet of 26 Airbus wide and narrow-body jets.
