BHRO demands immediate release of former Bahraini MP Sheikh Hasan Isa

21 August 2015

The Bahrain Human Rights Observatory  expresses its serious concern on the recent arrest of former MP Sheikh Hassan Isa, a prominent member of the opposition political group al-Wefaq National Islamic Society. Sheikh Hassan has been incommunicado since his arrest.

Sheikh Hassan has not been prosecuted since his arrest. He is held without any charges for over 48 hours in direct violation of Bahraini domestic criminal law. Sheikh Hasan’s was  denied the right for an attorney and the reasons for his arrest are still unknown.

We urge the goverment of Bahrain to immediately release and drop all charges against Sheikh Hasan Isa noting that the continuation of his arrest without official charges and denying him the right to an attorney is a clear violation of his legitimate rights
