Manama, Nov. 16 (BNA): An international field of up-and-coming drivers will be showcasing their talents this coming weekend in the MRF Challenge, being held as part of the FIA WEC Six Hours of Bahrain weekend at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).
The MRF Challenge will be holding the second round of its 2015 season in support of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), taking place in Sakhir on November 20 and 21.
The India-based open-wheel category is one of four international and regional racing series that that will be backing the headlining WEC. The GP2 Series, GP3 Series and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle are the others.
This year’s MRF season kicked off in Abu Dhabi last month with four races held.
Russian Nikita Troitcki was a victor in one of the races, while Japan’s Noboharu Matsushita triumphed twice. Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of former Formula One champion Emerson Fittipaldi, won the other race.
As per the MRF’s provisional entry list for the round in Bahrain, only Troitcki is set to take part at BIC. The challenge will hold two races in Bahrain, both on the Saturday of the race weekend.
The rest of the field that will be suiting up in Sakhir includes the Indian trio of Arjun Narendren, Tarun Reddy and Karthik Tharani; Canadian Zac de Mello; Austrian Dylan Young; Russian Nerses Isaakyan; Frenchman Christophe Mariot and Britons Harrison Newey, Laura Tillet, Richard Mitchell and Max Fewtrell.
The MRF will surely bring excitement to race fans during the week of the FIA WEC at BIC.
