Manama, Sept. 13 (BNA): Six lecturers have been named for the Arab Scientific Seminar slated for September 16-17, the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) said Sunday.
Dr. Mohammed Bin Daina and Dr. Mohammed Bu Hiji from Bahrain, Dr. Ahmed Al Shareef from the UAE, Dr. Sari Hamdan from Jordan, Saudi Arabia’s Dr. Hazza bin Mohammed Al Hazza and Dr. Mohammed Hassanein from Egypt will be speaking at the seminar.
The two-day seminar, which focuses on the importance of scientific research in developing sports movement in the Arab world, is scheduled to take place at Rami Grand Hotel in Seef.
It’s part of this year’s Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Scientific Research Award in the field of sports, organised for the third consecutive year under the patronage of His Majesty the King Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said around 150 academics and researchers in the fields of sports management, sports medicine and sports training from Bahrain and other Arab countries have already submitted their names last week.
He noted that a purpose-formed committee, tasked at receiving entry requests from applicants, can be emailed on mmatar@boc.bh.
Askar added that the award, in its third edition, aims at promote positive attitudes towards scientific research to create knowledge and contribute to the development of sports movement.
Among main objectives of the award is to encourage experts and researchers, locally and regionally, to conduct applied scientific research to develop sports movement and improve the level of performance in all areas of sports.
Other goals is to support the scientific research in accordance with the sports community needs, locally and regionally, honouring pioneers in scientific research in the field of sports, locally and regionally, besides promoting positive attitudes towards scientific research in the field of sports to enrich knowledge and contribute to the development of the sports movement.
The winner in each part of the award will receive a certificate of appreciation, signed by Shaikh Nasser, in addition to a cash prize and commemorative gift-bearing symbol of the award.
