Manama, Nov. 11 (BNA): Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar has congratulated Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa on obtaining the 2015 International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Award for Women and Sports for Asia.

Shaikha Hayat is the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport member, member of the Board of Directors of BOC, Chairwoman of Women Sport Committee and President of the Bahrain Table Tennis Association.

Askar said winning this award from the highest sporting organization in the world reflects the level of competence and experience enjoyed by Shaikha Hayat due to her contributions in this area either as an athlete, an administrator or leader, and playing a major part in the development of women’s sports on the domestic, regional and the continental levels.

The BOC general secretary noted that winning this prestigious award is a great source of pride for the Bahrain Olympic Committee, which has sought equality between men and women and working hard to push women’s sport to new horizons of development and growth in cooperation with national sports federations
