British ties praised

SUPREME Council for Youth and Sport and Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has praised historic Bahraini-British relations in all fields.

He was speaking as he attended as guest of honour the annual meeting of The Bahrain Society, a Bahrain-British friendship society, in London.

Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambasssador to the UK Alice Samaan, UK ministers, RCO secretary-general Dr Mustafa Al Sayed, Lord Howells, society chairman Brigadier Peter Sincock, officers from the Sandhurst military academy, members of the Labour and Conservative parties, GCC ambassadors and guests attended.

Shaikh Nasser praised the society’s role in strengthening ties between Bahrain and the UK, since its inception 42 years ago. He highlighted his role in achieving His Majesty’s vision for Bahrain and plans to develop and equip the youth to assume their role in the building and development of the country.

He discussed the RCO’s leading role in supporting orphans, widows and the needy in Bahrain, and its expanded responsibility to provide relief and aid to disaster-stricken countries.

Brigadier Sincock reviewed Bahrain’s achievements as well as development and prosperity in all fields. He called on Iran not to interfere in the kingdom’s internal affairs, stressing the need for co-operation for the unity of the community.

Lord Howells praised the King’s reforms and stressed the importance of strong Bahrain-UK ties.
