A BROTHER and sister filed their nominations yesterday in the Northern Governorate.
Mohammed Saeed Bin Rajab, 32, and Bedoor Saeed Bin Rajab, 34, both independent, are children of ex-Northern Governor Jaffer Bin Rajab.
Mr Bin Rajab has filed for parliament, while his sister has filed for the municipal council.
Their father, who accompanied them, told the GDN he was happy that both his children filed their nominations and said young people were the future of Bahrain.
“It was their decision to help their country and the youth are the future of Bahrain,” Jaffer Bin Rajab told the GDN.
“The new generation has fresh thoughts and ideas that can help the country move forward.
“I am excited at the number of youth coming forward for elections and the massive turnout for the elections as a whole. They even extended the nomination process until 10.30pm, an hour and a half extra.
“The most important thing is for the candidates to be able to work together and help our country and put conflicts aside.
“My children have a good chance to win and I wish them the best.”
Ms Bin Rajab said that she was excited to help the country.
“My family has a strong connection to politics and they all helped the country,” she told the GDN.
“My father was the ex-governor at the Northern Governorate and my grandfather was a member of the Northern Municipality.
“I am also willing to help my country at any cost and have a good vision to do so.”
Her brother said those boycotting the election were losing out.
“People should not fear the boycott as it will not have an effect on the elections. Those who boycott are the ones who will not benefit,” he said.
“Our area needs better hospitals and education and I have a solid programme to improve them.
“I have helped my country as a lieutenant and will help my country in parliament.”
