GENERAL Organisation for Youth and Sports (Goys) president Hisham Mohammed Al Jowder crowned the Bahrain Youth Society (BYC) champions of the Youth Societies Six-A-Side Football Championship for the second successive time.
The tournament champions defeated the Bahrain Disability Challenging Youth Society in the final match to end the competition with a 100 per cent win record and retain the cup glory.
Sixteen teams, representing different youth societies from Bahrain, competed in the day-long tournament held at Shaikh Khalifa Sports City Gym in Isa Town.
Organised by Goys, the event final was attended by high-ranking government and sports officials, including parliament member Isa Al Qadi, Bahraini Youth Hostels chairman Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and BYC honorary chairman Munes Al Mardi.

Also present at the awarding ceremony were Goys Youth Organisations and Centres directors Ahmed Al Dossary, Facilities and Projects director Eng. Khalid Al Haj, Information Affairs Authority Social Media Director Yousef Mohammed, Bahrain Football Association member Aref Al Mannai and Bahrain national futsal team coach Gustavo Zloccowick.
Al Jowder congratulated the winners on their victory and overall performance during the tournament, and praised the tremendous success of this six-a-side football event, stressing that this success underlines the extent of the youth societies keenness to take part.
On his part, BYC chairman Ali Sharafi expressed thanks and appreciation to Al Jowder for patronising the closing ceremony, which came to the relief of all the participating teams and the tournament organisers who found this support as a generous gesture that offers youth programs and aims to boost ties among different youth societies in Bahrain.
Sharfi noted the significant role of Goys in backing a variety of events organised by the Youth Societies Executive Office, headed by Mones Al Mardi, whom he also thanked for his continued support to the BYC.
