CARLS BAR – IN MEMORY OF SHIMMY

Following the death of former Los Montesinos based Carls Bar owner ‘Shimmy’, local poet John Stevens has penned a poem in memory of him, and asked if I would send it in to you.
As you may well be aware, Carls Bar held a Christmas Party this summer in aid of the Torrevieja Alzheimer’s Association (AFA) raising 300 euros.
Shimmy died suddenly, soon after retiring from Carls Bar, as did former customer Alistair Watt. Carls Bar is now in the hands of the ‘Mad Chef’ Martin and Tricia.

This year Christmas arrived so soon
It came while it was sunny June
They held a party at Carls Bar
And people came from near and far
A party with hilarity
That did so much for Charity
The staff organized so much fun
And plenty of games to be won
With food supplied by the ‘Mad Chef’
I like to call him the ‘food ref’
With food and drink piled up so high
A Christmas Party?
Don’t say why?
From the generous collection
Help goes in Alzheimers direction
Much more they’ll do
As they’re a star
Staff and customers
At Carls Bar
But some looked down
From up Above
Couldn’t be there
But sent their LoveX
