Centenary Cup snooker begins

THE Indian Club Centenary Cup Snooker Tournament got underway at the club premises on Monday night.

This high profile championship is carrying a total prize money of BD1,547 with the winner to receive BD700 and runner-up BD400.

There is also a prize of BD147 for the highest break.

Twenty top players from India, Bahrain and Pakistan are in the fray. India’s No. 4 Rashid Khan is the favourite to win the title while his closest challengers are Bahrain No. 1 Habib Subah Habib and Afghanistan No. 1 and former Asian champion Mohammed Saleh.

India’s snooker and billiards legend Arvind Savur, more famously known as ‘Tornado Fats’ for his speed play, will be guest of honour on the final day on October 29.
