Manama – Bahrain, Dubai – United Arab Emirates, 15 October 2014 – A Technical Workshop on Islamic Capital Market will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on the 17 -19 of November 2014. The professional development workshop was recently announced by the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), the global umbrella of Islamic financial institutions, and the
Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA
), UAE market regulator that aims to protect investors and improve the efficiency of UAE capital markets.

The workshop is a professional development initiative organised by CIBAFI and hosted by the
Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority
, and is targeted to mid-level staff of Islamic banks and financial institutions. The 3-day workshop aims to provide participants with hands on technical knowledge and skills pertaining to Islamic Capital Market, with a focus on Sukuk and its recent structures compliant with the Basel III capital requirements.

The workshop, which will seamlessly integrate theory with practice, seeks to engage participants in discussions relating to the current environment of the ICM and the post-crisis developments. The workshop will focus on the supervision developments and the risk management techniques, and utilise real industry case studies to debate the issues.

The initiative is aligned with both organisation’s strategic missions, in particular CIBAFI’s endeavor to enhance capacity building in the Islamic Financial Services Industry (IFSI), and the
ESCA
‘s mandate as the Emirates regulator and capital markets watchdog. As the ‘voice’ of the industry, CIBAFI aims to provide platforms such as this workshop to bring industry professionals together, encourage dialogue, and enhance knowledge sharing on important industry issues.
