MANAMA: Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) with support from the Transportation Ministry and Tamkeen launched a new initiative – ‘Tahleeq’ – a graduate training programme aimed at shaping the future leaders of Bahrain’s aviation industry.
Tahleeq is a capacity building programme for aspiring, high-performing Bahraini graduates.
The ambitious two-year scheme has been designed to engage young Bahrainis into the aviation sector while obtaining valuable practical experience as BAC embarks on the Airport Modernisation Programme.
“We are proud of our partnership with BAC and the efforts exerted to launch this programme which will pave the way for nationals to be trained by experts within the aviation field,” Transportation Ministry Civil Aviation Affairs acting under-secretary Ahmed Nemat said.
He also added that such training programmes should focus on specialisations required by the aviation industry in line with the ministry’s directions to attract and develop young and promising Bahraini talents.
“As one of Bahrain’s leading employers, BAC is driven by its commitment to investing in the local talent,” BAC chief executive Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said.
“Tahleeq presents an ideal platform for talented graduates motivated by passion – who have a thirst for knowledge to join BAC’s team of professionals and kick-off their careers with this valuable experience”
Tamkeen vice-president for human capital development Amal Al Kooheji highlighted the importance of investing in enhancing the skills and capabilities of Bahraini human capital.
“Based on this principle, Tamkeen has developed programmes that aim to develop the human capital of Bahrain, according to market requirements, and provide Bahrainis with opportunities to gain the necessary skills to make them the employees of choice.”
Talented and ambitious Bahrainis will be recruited to specialise in engineering, airport operations, information technology and facilities management.
The selected applicants will be expected to commit to the two-year programme, where they will be exposed to the various discipline areas to ensure they gain full insight into the company’s work.
To enable effective skills transfer, the programme will also feature regular coaching sessions with experienced and qualified mentors.
“Tahleeq is a unique opportunity for professional growth, while being part of an ambitious national project,” Mr Al Binfalah added.
