Deputy Premier receives AI delegation

Manama: May 8 – (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa received today the delegation from Amnesty International currently visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The delegation includes the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Programme’s Director Saeed Bu Madoha, Saeed Haddadi and Ms. Covadungha De La Campa Alonzo.

The Deputy Premier welcomed the AI delegation, praising the Organization’s more than half a century role in defending human rights, shunning violence and discrimination.

His Highness reiterated Bahrain’s constant commitment to application of the principles and criteria of human rights and its cooperation with international organizations and agencies to boost and develop human rights. He explained that the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa constitutes the foundation for boosting and development the principles of human rights in Bahrain and also boosted the role of Bahraini women who nowadays share in running all public authorities, agencies and departments and form part of the three powers: the political and the executive bodies and the legislature.

The delegation thanked His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa on his attentive welcoming of their visit and stressed the AI’s keenness on full cooperation with the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain in order to boost human rights’ principles.
