Draw takes place for Asian women’s football tourney

Viet Nam have been drawn in group C together with Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan and Bahrain in the qualifying rounds for the 2014 Asian Women’s Football Championships.

Group A consists of Uzbekistan, Jordan, Lebanon and Kuwait. Thailand, Iran, Philippines and Bangladesh have been drawn in Group B, while Group D is made up of Myanmar, Chinese Taipei, Palestine and India. The draw took place in Malaysia.

The matches will start next May with teams playing in a round robin format. The best team from each group will enter the finals where they will meet with wild-card rivals China, Japan, South Korea and Australia.
