THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to the Amwaj Islands Marina this weekend as Bahrain’s boat show gets set to make waves.
A range of spectacular entertainment has been lined up for the three-day Bahrain Boat Show International, which kicks off today and aims to target boat and yacht enthusiasts from around the region.
The show, now in its fourth year, is being organised by Knotika Boat Shows, in co-operation with Amwaj Marina, Tamkeen and Bahrain’s Economic Development Board, among others.
A food court, live music and dance performances will accompany displays of boats, luxury yachts, water sport equipment, beach wear, marinas, charter waterfronts and marine services.
More than 100 exhibitors will be present at the event, with many of them being from Bahrain.
Knotika chief executive officer Wael Juju praised Tamkeen for encouraging local businesses to take part. He said the show would emphasis on entertainment with a wider array of choices for the public, from the smallest kayak to the largest boat.
Meanwhile, Tamkeen yesterday said it has supported 32 enterprises through its Tarweej scheme to participate in the show.
It said the number of participants and the amount of support provided increased from last year’s show, where it provided support for 28 exhibitors.
Tamkeen private sector support senior manager Mohammed Bucheeri said they were committed to developing businesses through high-value opportunities.
“This event is considered one of those opportunities, providing marine businesses with a strong platform to showcase their products and expand their customer base,” he said.
The event will be open to the public from 3pm until 10pm on each day and tickets cost BD10 for silver and BD20 for gold. Entry is free for children below three.
