Efforts to upgrade infrastructure stressed

Manama, Dec.22 (BNA): The annual maintenance of the sewage drainage network requires BD75 million, said Works, Municipalities and Urban planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf. He stressed Bahrain’s infrastructure strides, pointing out that the new sewage network covers up to 95 per cent (95%) of the regions in Bahrain.

In a statement today, he stressed resolved to continue efforts to upgrade Bahrain’s infrastructure and sewage network. Citing updated statistics, he said that Bahrain produces more than 120 million cubic metres from waste water for multiple purposes.

He urges members of the Council of Representatives to pay field visits to get an idea about the dedicated work of teams assigned to deal with rainwater drainage. He pointed out that 1000 points of rainwater water stagnation have been surveyed across Bahrain, adding that the ministry dealt with 350 locations with the focus on areas which were most affected.
