First Mena investor summit attracts worldwide attention

Tenmou, Bahrain’s first “Business Angels” organisation, opened the inaugural Mena Angel Investors Summit at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on June 1.
Minister of Transportation and Acting Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board (EDB), strategic partners of the event, addressed the inaugural session attended by over 100 participants. About 25 Angel Investors and 50 entrepreneurs from Bahrain, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and the US’ Silicon Valley attended the function. The minister spoke about the importance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to global economies and encouraged participants of the event to use the opportunity offered by the summit to present their ideas and creations to benefit Bahrain and the region.
Al Hawaj names star employee of the month
Maria Daisy P. Saludo was named the star employee of the month recently of Al Hawaj group at a ceremony held at the company’s office in Salmaniya.
The managing-director, Jawad Y. Al Hawaj, presented her with a certificate of appreciation, cash prize and a gift for her outstanding performance.
The award shows dedication of the group to acknowledge the efforts of its staff.
Batelco staff specialise in ATT cabling systems
Batelco, Bahrain’s leading communications company, held a specialised training programme for ATT cabling systems at its Hamala headquarters, recently.
ATT cabling systems’ business development manager in the Middle East Ashish Marya conducted the programme and presented the ATT cabling systems’ product portfolio to Batelco’s business solutions team.
Batelco general-manager enterprise division Adel Daylami said that Batelco’s business solutions portfolio includes products and services developed by a number of leading global companies such as ATT.
Viva inks key agreement with Silah Gulf
Further strengthening its reach in the Enterprise market, Viva Bahrain has entered into an agreement with Silah Gulf, a multi-award winning and leading premium customer experience solutions provider.
The agreement empowers VIVA business division to continue expanding its reach by offering a comprehensive range of ICT solutions to businesses.
Bapco holds Green School Awards ceremony
The Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has held its Green School Award Ceremony 2014 under the patronage of Minister of Education Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi.
Awards were presented to the winning schools. Jid Hafs Technical School for Boys was awarded the first prize for its project on Smart Recession Area. Isa Town Secondary School for Girls and Hidd Secondary School for Girls were also awarded the 2nd 3rd prizes, for purification of air grill restaurants exhaust to reduce environmental damage and recycling of waste paper in the manufacture of heatproof bricks project respectively.
The initiative rewards schools for adopting measures to promote environmental awareness and management of environmental resources in cooperation with the local community.
BIC names AJM Kooheji-LG as support partner
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), — the home of motorsport in the Middle East — has proudly announced AJM Kooheji Group as a new support partner.
AJM Kooheji Group is the sole distributor of LG consumer electronics in Bahrain, and BIC has long enjoyed strong relations with the company. The new partnership further strengthens the existing relations.
