Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain: After an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco by H.E. Shaikh Ebrhaim Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees,

, from 11 to 14 January 2015,
AAOIFI
received the delegation of the Supreme Ulema Council of Morocco, on 25 January 2015 at its new offices in Seef District, Kingdom of Bahrain, where the two sides discussed potential areas of cooperation in all pertinent respects.
Earlier this month,
AAOIFI
‘s had held a meeting with the governor of
Bank al-Maghrib
(
Central Bank of Morocco
) to discuss prospective areas of collaboration, especially in view of Morocco’s efforts to promulgage a set of codes and regulations paving the way to introduce Islamic finance into the country.
AAOIFI
‘s delegation had received a very warm welcome, and points of view had converged on various issues. The delegation had also paid a visit to a host of banking and financial institutions and met with a number of Shari’a scholars, practioners, legal experts and accounting professionals.
In this respect, Dr. Hamed Merah, Secretary General, stated that: “in implementation of

‘s strategy to enhance relations with all stakeholders of the Islamic finance industry around the world, and to provide all possible technical support,
AAOIFI
has exerted these efforts in inauguration of its global activities and initiatives in different parts of the world”.
These activities are carried out in the context of strengthening
AAOIFI
‘s role, especially subsequent to the issuance of Islamic banking laws in the Kingdom of Morocco, Islamic finance’s gateway to Africa.
