A young Englishman once dubbed a young Jose Mourinho is now in charge of men’s football in New Zealand.
33-year-old Anthony Hudson has been unveiled as the new All Whites coach, replacing Ricki Herbert.
Hudson has left his job with the Bahrain national team and signed with New Zealand Football through to the 2018 World Cup.
He says he wants to better the unbeaten All Whites side of 2010.
He’ll also oversee all New Zealand age-group sides.
While flattered to be called a young Mourinho, Hudson says he doesn’t model himself on the Chelsea manager.
“I’m my own person, I’m my own man. I don’t really want to be anyone else. I believe incredibly in what I’m doing.”
New Zealand Football’s assisting with Hudson’s visa application so he can take charge of the All Whites for next month’s international friendly against Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
