Riyadh, June 11 (BNA): The GCC Ministerial Council praised choosing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa by the Arab Creators Union (ACU) as the Best Arab National Personality for 2015, in recognition and gratitude for the efforts of His Majesty’s constructive efforts in service of the Arab nation and working to achieve Arab solidarity in all fields.
This came during the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, at the (135th) session of the GCC Ministerial Council meeting which was held today ( Thursday, 11 June 2015) in Riyadh.
The Foreign Minister presented during the meeting a detailed explanation of the terrorist plot that was aimed at Bahrain’s security through committing a series of serious criminal acts and reviewed with the council the tremendous efforts made by the security services and their vigilance to thwart these cowardly plans.
He added that a number of leading criminals involved were arrested of the so-called Saraya Al Ashtar terrorist organization, who are involved in committing a series of criminal acts being supported and receiving financing from third parties as well as getting military training in Iraqi from terrorist organizations operating in order to threaten the security and stability of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region.
The Ministerial Council commended in its press release issued after the meeting the capacity and efficiency of the security services in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia which enabled them to achieve pre-emptive operations of detection and uprooting terrorist cells and maintaining security and stability in the region, stressing the need to deal firmly with the phenomenon of serious terrorist movements and extremist terrorism.
The Council also expressed condemnation of the terrorist acts that took place in the Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Qatif and the Al-Anoud Mosque in Dammam, resulting in the loss of life of dozens of martyrs and injuring many innocent civilians, confirming that these criminal acts are contrary to all Islamic values and humanitarian principles.
The Ministerial Council and expressed its support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all their efforts to protect Saudi’s security, stability and in their fight against the terrorist organization Daash.
The Ministerial Council stressed its firm position towards Iraq and the importance of respecting the country’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity as well as the non-interference in Iraq’s internal affairs and using its territory to shelter or train terrorist groups.
The Council also expressed its condemnation and rejection of the statements of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran during the opening of Religious Scholars Conference and the International Islamic awakening which were made about the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people, considering these false statements and falsification of reality indecent ways towards other nations and deterring from Islamic principles and international law and good neighborly relations.
The Council called on Iran to refrain from issuing such statements that lead to discord, sow sectarian feuds and provoke acts of violence and terrorism in the region. In the Yemeni affairs, the Council noted the efforts of the Special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, in the framework of commitment to the Riyadh Deceleration and UN Security Council Resolution (2216), the Gulf Initiative and its execution mechanism and the outputs of the comprehensive national dialogue in Yemen within the United Nations efforts to hold consultations in Geneva on Yemen on June 14, 2015.
The Ministerial Council condemned Houthi aggression towards some border cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and commended the efficiency of the Saudi forces and in responding to all such attacks. The Council affirmed Saudi Arabia’s right in taking all that is necessary to defend its security, stability and protect its citizens and its borders.
The Ministerial Council also discussed the Iranian nuclear program, the Syrian crisis, the continuing deterioration of the humanitarian situation of the Syrian people and the situation in Iraq and Libya, in addition to the situation in the Palestinian territories and the developments of the Arab – Israeli conflict, where the Council welcomed the announcement by the International Criminal Court of formally accepting the State of Palestine as a full member, stressing that the accession strengthens Palestine’s position in the international community and contributes to the preservation of the rights of the Palestinian people.
