Cairo, Sept 2 (BNA) The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr Ahmad Al Tayeb, and their wishes to him for good health and to Egypt and its people further progress and prosperity.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his thanks and appreciation to the firm historic stance of Shaikh Al Azhar towards the Kingdom of Bahrain, recalling the visit he, along with senior Al Azhar scholars, made to Bahrain recently, which he said was a source of pride to His Majesty the King, the government and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain and reflected the keenness of both sides to bolster the historical relations between the two countries.

Shaikh Khalid, who was received by the Grand Imam of Al Azhar in Cairo, praised the important role of Al Azhar in maintaining the unity of the Egyptian people and its contribution to bolstering security and stability in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the wisdom and capability of the Grand Imam and the scholars at the Al Azhar in dealing with these circumstances, adding that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports this historic Islamic landmark in view of the admiration and respect of the country’s leadership and people, while affirming that what harms Al Azhar harms us all.

Shaikh Khalid said, in this regard, that the Kingdom of Bahrain affirms its backing and support to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its people in overcoming this phase, in combating terrorism and violence as well as all measures taken by the Egyptian authority to safeguard its legitimate right in establishing security and stability and ensuring the implementation of a map for the future to meet the aspirations of the Egyptian people for further progress and prosperity.

The Grand Imam of Al Azhar expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s positions to support Egypt at this critical phase, which he said has a great impact on the Egyptian people and demonstrates the extent of cohesion, love and brotherhood between the two countries and their people.

He praised the progress and prosperity in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty the King, affirming that Al Azhar’s position will always remain supportive to the Kingdom.
