Cairo, Sept 2 (BNA) The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, held a meeting in Cairo tonight with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Nabil Fahmy.
The meeting discussed coordinating on various fields of cooperation and the outstanding brotherly ties as well as the means of further boosting these relations in line with the aspirations of the leaderships and people of the two countries.

It also included consultations and the exchange of views on the outcome of the Arab League Council meeting at the ministerial level that was held in Cairo yesterday, particularly on the decision related to developments in the Arab Republic of Syria, the Middle East peace process as well as the coordination of positions on issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was followed by a joint Press conference, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the firm and supportive stance of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt in regards to efforts by the authorities concerned to restore security, stability and order as well as measures to combat terrorism, violence and extremism, which is in line with the duty of the state and the right of the Egyptian nationals as well as an internal issue that should not be interfered with.

The Foreign Minister expressed the pride of the Kingdom of Bahrain with its ties with Egypt and its people through deep rooted historical relations founded on love, solidarity and continued cooperation at all levels.

He renewed the thanks and appreciation of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people for the contribution of Egypt’s leadership and people in responding to any external threats as well as in the progress and development of modern Bahrain, affirming that this will not be forgotten by the Kingdom.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that Bahrain’s King, government and people stand side by side with the Arab Republic of Egypt and support it at all regional and international gatherings so it peacefully overcomes the current critical phase as well as implement a future map with great competence under the wisdom of the leadership and government with the will of the people, in order to consolidate security and stability as well as achieve aspirations for a brighter and prosperous future.

He expressed his full confidence that the Arab Republic of Egypt will resume its leading Arab and regional role in defending the issues of the Arab and Muslim nations.The Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that it was agreed during the meeting to re-activate the joint Bahraini-Egyptian Committee, which will hold its next meeting in Cairo during the coming period.

The Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt expressed the thanks and appreciation of Egypt and its people to the Kingdom of Bahrain for its supportive stance under the current situation, wishing the Kingdom and its people further progress and prosperity.
