Foreign Minister meets UN General Assembly President

New York, Sept. 27 (BNA)– The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met Sam Kahamba Kutesa, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda and President of the 69th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
Shaikh Khalid conveyed the greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to Kutesa.

The Foreign Minister expressed Bahrain’s support for all UN programmes and initiatives, including enhancing the work of the General Assembly and promoting its role and desired objectives.

The meeting reviewed the main programmes presented by the President in his annual plan and the most important issues on the agenda of the UN General Assembly such as the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, fighting terrorism and its sources of funding, and climate change.

The foreign Minister extended an invitation to the President of the General Assembly to visit the Kingdom Bahrain in the near future.
