Manama, Aug. 11. (BNA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held today a consultative meeting on the implementation of the recommendations of the universal periodic review, attended by members of the High Coordinating Committee for Human Rights, representatives of the National Institution for Human rights and non-governmental organisations.
The meeting is being held ahead of the Kingdom of Bahrain presenting its voluntary report on the recommendations of the universal periodic review to the Human Rights Council at its 27th session, scheduled to be held in Geneva in September 2014.
The meeting was held in line with the belief of the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain to apply the best international practices, which highlight the need to involve stakeholders in the preparation and setup of the international human rights requirements.
The meeting is intended to provide an opportunity for all those concerned with human rights issues to learn about the various point of views, and the contribution of everyone’s opinions and perceptions about the status of the implementation of the universal periodic review recommendations, which will be taken into account during the preparation of the Kingdom’s quarterly report on the implementation of these recommendations.
