Former BICI chief pays tribute to HM King Hamad

London, Dec14 (BNA) Former Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) President Professor Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for his key role in ensuring the success of the probe panel.

In the 6th episode of his memoirs published in London-based Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Professor Bassiouni credited HM the King for providing all the means and ensuring a favourable climate which enabled the commission to draw up its final report in total transparency, credibility, probity and independence.

“We lived in the Kingdom of Bahrain a unique experience which enjoyed HM the King’s full support and the cooperation of his interior minister”, Professor Bassiouni said.

Emeritus Professor of Law Bassiouni described his fact-finding mission in Bahrain as totally different from the one he led in former Yugoslavia, stressing particularly HM the king’s full support which “opened doors” for him.
