Friendship society lends a helping hand to Alia Centre

THE Bahraini-British Friendship Society yesterday donated £1,000 (BD608) to the Alia Centre for Early Intervention in support of its programmes.

A donation ceremony was hosted by British Ambassador Iain Lindsay at his residence in Ras Ruman.

It was presented by society executive director Peter Sincock to centre vice-chairwoman Somaya Hussain.

Mr Sincock said the society is working hard to collect donations to help charitable and humanitarian causes in Bahrain.

“Our British members have all worked in Bahrain and we visit the country once every three years,” he said.

“We are a non-profit society but through our members’ contributions we are able to give back to the country we love.

“It is our first donation and there are more in the pipeline depending on what we could collect.”

The society’s role in strengthening bilateral co-operation has also been praised by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander.

The Crown Prince received a delegation from the society, led by Mr Sincock, at Riffa Palace on Thursday.

He welcomed Mr Sincock’s visit, wishing the society – the oldest institution that aims to consolidate friendship ties with Bahrain – success in its activities.
