The modification consists of introducing three routes instead of the current unique entry route in addition to introduction of other changes in the procedures for handling traffic flow that will contribute effectively in decreasing airspace congestion. These planes came after few phases of an improvement plan in partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain and Dubai Foundation for Air Navigation Services.

The previous amendment took place at the end of 2012 with the restructuring of the airspace and creation of a new sector called the ‘Delta’ increasing the airspace capacity by 55%.

HE Saif Al Suwaidi, director general of the General Authority for Civil Aviation said: “This change is a natural result of the large increase in air traffic movement in the UAE and the region.”
