Manama, Apr. 29 (BNA)– The 16th forum of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) History and Archaeological Society kicked off with the participation of a host of specialists and academics.
The two-day event is being held under the patronage of Board of Trustees Chairman of Isa Cultural Centre Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, in cooperation with the University of Bahrain (UoB).
More than 120 historians and archaeologists from the GCC countries are taking part in the forum which aims to shed light on the history of the Arabian Gulf region, the UoB Vice President for Scientific Research and Head of the forum’s preparatory committee Dr. Ali Mansoor Al Shehab said.
In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the UoB President Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi expressed happiness about holding the forum in Bahrain, stressing the university’s support for it and the GCC History and Archaeological Society. He also praised the role of the society’s Board of Directors in holding continuously such events which are needed by academics and researchers to spotlight and preserve the region’s glorious history.
