GCC Labour Ministers Stress Support To Bahrain In Tackling The Issue Of …

Manama, June 11 (BNA)– Labour Minister Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, the President of the current session of the GCC Labour Ministers, held today a meeting at the Palace of Nations with Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Guy Ryder, in the presence of the GCC Labour Ministers.


The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 102 session of the International Labour Conference held in Geneva from June 4 to 20.

The Labour Minister expressed the GCC countries’ respect for the key role played by ILO to improve the labourers’ and working conditions. He pointed out the GCC countries’ efforts to develop its labour legislations to provide more social protection to the workforce and promote social dialogue for the common interest of all production sides. He also highlighted Bahrain’s achievements in this regard, citing resolution of more than 98% of the issue of dismissed workers in connection with 2011 incidents.

On their part, the GCC Labour Ministers underlined support to all measures taken by Bahrain to tackle the issue of dismissed workers which, they said, reflects resolve to close this file and respect to ILO resolutions in this regard.
