GCC protest conveyed to Iraqi Foreign Minister

Baghdad, June 23 (BNA): The ambassadors of Bahrain, the UAE and Kuwait to Iraq conveyed the GCC countries’ protest to Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jafari over the statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry on the trial of a Bahraini citizen. The statement is considered a breach of diplomatic norms and a blatant interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs.

Bahraini Ambassador Salah Al Maliki, the UAE Ambassador Hassan Al Shehi and Kuwaiti Ambassador Ghassan Al Zewawi stressed to Al-Jafari who received them that such statements would not serve the aspired progress of the relations between the GCC countries and Iraq.

The Iraqi minister underlined his country’s keenness on bolstering relations with the GCC states, away from any interference in their domestic affairs or encroachment on their national sovereignty.
