GCC Summit convenes in anticipation of substantial resolutions and …

Manama: Dec. 25 — (BNA) The Bahraini Arabic-speaking daily newspaper – Al-Watan – stated that the GCC leaders realize that their countries’ citizens do not await verbal speeches as much as they are looking forward to substantial resolutions which ensure their protection from unrest seen in some countries whose details are marred by bloodshed, asserting that the leaders yesterday confirmed this in their speeches as well as their stances, moves and efforts aimed to shift the organization into a more cohesive phase of the Gulf Union.

The newspaper, stated in its editorial today that “not only a summit for the GCC alone as the Union was one of the major headlines pertaining to key projects aimed to deal with regional and international transformations seriously, with the touchline being Iran’s counter-project radiating from Iraq into Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and the Sudan, and the latest clue to seriousness of the Union was Saudi Arabia’s announcing of the Union’s articles of association. The daily newspaper went on to say that this is a long and tortuous road. Manama Summit is a significant turning point for the sake of the GCC citizens’ socio-economic welfare and livelihood and even extends to the entire region’s peoples who have suffered many strives.

Who doesn’t look now at the firm stance of the GCC states regarding Syria, Yemen, Morocco and Egypt? The GCC organization is the most stable and cohesive organization. Who doesn’t aspire to a more realistic GCC role? Specially after the GCC initiatives fended off the countries of the region many catastrophes? – the newspaper inquired.

The newspaper explained that transformations are not all negative challenges. Constructive conditions provided the GCC states with a key player whose importance many times had exceeded the role of the Arab League. Anyone who has followed up the inaugural session of the 33rd GCC Summit yesterday will know that reading the reality of the GCC, the region and the whole world was present so clearly and that the objective of full GCC citizenship reflects our cohesion and firm policy and substantial resolutions in favor of our (the GCC’s) citizens in order to accomplish integration and unity, which has been illustrated by the speech of HM the King.

The local daily newspaper (Al-Watan) concluded its editorial by stating that “the GCC and Arab citizens are awaiting the Summit’s resolutions and recommendations today whose eyes are focused on Manama Summit in anticipation of a unified political vision which pledges the potentials of the Arabian Gulf and political expertise in order to tackle 31-year-old dossiers and crises in order to fend off unfavorable pre-machinated destinies from these peoples.
