Bahrain-based Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has won the ‘Best Performance and the Most Outstanding Performance Awards’ in the manufacturing category at the annual Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards, which was held in Dubai, UAE.
The awards ceremony was held at the Madinat Jumeirah Arena.
A representative from GPIC received the awards from HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai for its exceptional performance in manufacturing category of the prestigious award, said a statement from the company.
The excellence award attracted Bahraini companies from various economic sectors, especially manufacturing and services, besides the other 27 per cent participants from the GCC countries, it added.

Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, and chairman of the panel of judges of the award, said: “The awards is an initiative of the Ministry of Economy in cooperation with Dubai Chamber of Commerce Industry.
“This initiative is within the framework of the declaration of the year 2015 as the UAE Year of Innovation under the guidance of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and also in line with the innovation strategy launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed last October,” he said.
Al Mansouri pointed out that the award in its current cycle has registered a 12.5 per cent growth in the number of participating companies compared to its previous cycles thus bringing the number of companies over the past eight cycles to more than 1,200 which reflects on the award’s reputation as a tool of excellence in institutional performance and success, it further stated.
Highlighting the success of the UAE’s business environment on creativity and innovation, Al Mansouri called upon all companies in the country and the entire GCC region to keep reinventing themselves with outstanding performance and offering of world-class services while enhancing their competitiveness in the global market, the statement said.
