At least five people were shot and killed Saturday and another was wounded by gunmen at a bar in the Brazilian city of Carapicuiba, in the Sao Paulo metropolitan area.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. at a bar in the Parque Ariston neighborhood, where the masked killers broke in and opened fire indiscriminately, Brazilian police said.
Four victims died on the spot and the two who were wounded were taken to a nearby medical center; one of them died while the other remains hospitalized.
Half an hour after the attack in the bar, two people suffered bullet wounds in another shooting, this one on a street in the Jardim Pignatary neighborhood, about 3 kilometers (2 miles) from the first crime.
Police have not released the names of the victims and as yet have no idea whether the two crimes were related, police spokespersons told local media.
This was the second slaughter in two weeks at Carapicuiba, following the one on July 13 when five people were gunned down by unknown persons who opened fire from two cars. EFE
