Gurung scores as Nepal beats East Riffa

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Anil Gurung scored the lone goal as the Nepali national football team registered a 1-0 victory over East Riffa FC, a Bahraini Premier League side, in a friendly match on Tuesday night in Manama.

The Nepali team is on a tour of the Gulf country since August 4 as part of preparations for the Eighth SAFF Championship to be held in Kathmandu from August 31 to September 11. Earlier, the Nepali team had lost 3-0 to Bahrain U-23 team in a friendly match played on Thursday.

Gurung scored the winner in the 60th minute utilizing a pass from Jagjeet Shrestha. Nepal missed a couple of chances in the first half. Likewise, Gurung missed a chance in the 48th minute as he failed to beat the opponent goalie after receiving a pass from Jagjeet Shrestha.
According to All Nepal Football Association CEO Indra Man Tuladhar, the national team has reached Kuwait on Wednesday evening after concluding the practice tour to Bahrain. Nepal will spend 10 days in Kuwait and continue its training camp there.
