Health Minister affirms Bahrain free of Coronavirus disease

Manama, Arp 27 (BNA) – Minister of Health, Sadiq bin Abdulkarim Al-Shehabi, today paid an inspection visit to the isolation ward at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), which is allocated, as a preventive measure, to receive Coronavirus disease cases, in case of occurrence in Bahrain.

Health Minister asserted that there have been no infectious cases registered in Bahrain so far, stressed the Health Ministry’s follow-up to the developments of the disease at the regional and international levels.

Health Minister stated that no actin can be taken against travelers at the State’s ports of entry and no travel ban can be imposed against countries that have had an outbreak of the disease.

He highlighted HRH Premier’s directives on taking precautionary measures to encounter the disease.

Dr. Mariam Al-Jalahma chaired Anti-Coronavirus Disease Committee meeting to discuss the latest developments of the disease globally, and the Health Ministry’s plan to confront the disease.

Head of Public Health Laboratory, Amjed Al-Ghanim, said that the results achieved by the Public Health Laboratory are accredited 100% compared to the international laboratories.

Al-Ghanim explained that the Public Health Laboratory provides 24/7 lab test services, and confirmed negative results of more than 471 cases that have been lab tested so far.

The number of cases infected with Coronavirus registered with the WHO at the world level is 261 cases, including 93 death cases.
