Manama, Mar. 15. (BNA) – His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has received a cable of congratulations from the Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa on Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s successful Swimming Challenge initiative.

The Minister expressed pride in the historic and unprecedented exploit attained by the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa by completing the full distance of the 35-km Swimming Challenge extending from the Sunset Resort in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to the Sofitel Resort in Zallaq, Bahrain.

He praised the SCYS Chairman and the Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s patronage of the event in which 70 world athletes took part.

He added that allocating the proceeds of the Swimming Challenge to cancer patients in Bahrain is in line with HM the King’s directives and support for humanitarian and charitable initiates that achieve noble goals.

He wished HM the King continuous good health and happiness.
