Manama, Jul. 16. (BNA) — Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry yesterday organised, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at Ahmed Al Fateh Islamic Centre the concluding ceremony of the 19th Bahrain Grand Holy Quran Recitation and Explanation Contest.
President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, officials, religious scholars and clerics and scores of citizens and residents attended.
In a statement during the ceremony, the Justice Minister said that honouring the winners of the competition underlines anew commitment to serving the Holy Quran and contributing to its teaching it and its sciences.
He added that the holding the 19th edition of the contest testifies to the kingdom’s leadership’s interest in the Holy Quran and keenness to promote its values and precepts among society, extending sincere thanks and appreciation to HM the King, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
He lauded the efforts exerted by the President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs who, he said, launched the contest, praising his attendance of the ceremony to honour the winners.
The Minister congratulated the winners and their parents, and valued highly the tremendous efforts exerted by the officials of the contest, including shaikhs, teachers, jury members and members of the organising committee.
The audience watched a documentary spotlighting the the Bahrain Grand Holy Quran Contest.
Then Shaikh Abdulkarim Al-Ghitani, from Egypt, Shaikh Ahmed Abdul Shafi, from Egypt, and Shaikh Hassan Mora’ab recited some holy Quran verses.
After that, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs President Shaikh Abdulla presented commemorative gifts to guests of honour, jury members and distinguished participants.
Then, the Justice Minister and Shaikh Abdulla awarded the winners.
