Manama, May 11 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa underscored the important role of the legislative branch in boosting democracy and parliamentary work as well as promoting sustainable development in Bahrain.
HM the King was speaking as he received at Sakhir Palace today Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and their deputies as well as members of the parliamentary committee in charge of replying to HM the King’s speech who presented him with the parliament’s reply to the royal speech in the inauguration of the first session of the fourth legislative term.
HM the King commended the parliamentary efforts to bolster national unity and consensus by fostering consultation and coordination in catering for citizens’ needs, developing legislations and defending national issues. “Bahrain has always been known throughout its history for its constant keenness on development and prosperity,” HM King Hamad emphasised, lauding cohesion and hospitality characterising the Bahraini society.
HM King Hamad stressed that the National Assembly is responsible for maintaining those noble values, pointing out Bahrain’s pioneering status in various fields, including freedom of expression, participation in decision making and provision of optimum services for citizens.
“We look forward optimistically to a brighter future for the posterity,” HM the King said, adding that many countries are looking at Bahrain’s experience with respect and admiration. He also praised citizen’s keenness on hard work to fast-track national development.
HM King Hamad lauded the content of the parliament’s reply which reflects keenness to serve the nation and citizens, upgrade performance, promote democracy and broaden the scope of popular participation in decision making. He also praised strong cooperation between the executive and legislative branches to bring about further achievements.
The Representatives Council Speaker expressed honour in meeting HM the King, stressing the tremendous royal support for the legislature and reiterating unflinching allegiance to the national and its leadership. He voiced the parliament’s resolve to go ahead in preserving the social texture and hard-won national gains in cooperation with the government. He also underlined the parliamentary support to the leadership in bolstering regional security and stability and backing legitimacy in Yemen by taking part in the “Operation Decisive Storm” and the “Operation Restore Hope”.
The Representatives Council Speaker lauded the royal directives and pardon that will benefit a number of inmates for humanitarian reasons, describing the step as an assertion of the wisdom of HM the King and farsighted humanitarian vision.
