New York, Sept. 26 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa will deliver a recorded speech later tonight during the ceremony to be organised at the United nations’ headquarters by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), in the presence of world leaders, heads of governments, diplomatic corps, ambassadors and Arab and foreign media outlets.
HRH the Prime Minister will highlight Bahrain’s vision on the future of telecommunications, and its strenuous efforts to attain more sustainable development achievements.
He will also shed light on the kingdom’s development achievements in all walks of life.
HRH Premier’s speech was announced as Shaikh Hussam bin Isa Al Khalifa met here today ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao, in the presence of the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Kamal bin Ahmed and the CEO of the e-Government Authority Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed.
Shaikh Hussam conveyed greetings from HRH the Prime Minister to ITU Secretary-General, expressed thanks and appreciation to ITU for the efforts it is exerting to host the honouring ceremony.
Shaikh Hussam and ITU Secretary-General discussed the final preparations to hold the honouring ceremony in which the ITU’s Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award will be conferred on HRH the Prime Minister at the UN headquarters here.
Houlin Zhao welcomed granting ITU’s Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award to HRH Premier in recognition of his efforts to boost development in the kingdom, and at the regional and global levels, lauding the advanced level of cooperation between Bahrain and ITU.
The kingdom’s delegation presented ITU Secretary-General a copy of “Bahrain and the United Nations over Years”, launched at the UN headquarters yesterday, and detailing Bahrain’s relations with the United Nations over the years and the awards granted to HRH Premier.
Houlin Zhao was also presented a DVD prepared by the e-Government Authority documenting areas of cooperation between the UN and Bahrain in the field of e-government, including conferences, workshops, experts’ meetings and studies, over the past five years.
