Human Rights Minister heads to KSA

Manama: March 16 – (BNA): Minister of State for Human Rights Affairs Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdul-Rahman led the Kingdom of Bahrain’s official delegation to participate in the seventh meeting of Gulf ministers in-charge of human rights-related governmental agencies at the Headquarters of the GCC General Secretariat slated to be held in Riyadh, KSA, in the period March 17-18.


The meeting discusses amongst several other topics the Kingdom of Bahrain’s proposal to create a GCC high committee for human rights. The meeting also discusses the Human Rights Declaration for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, response mechanisms regarding criticisms directed to GCC countries and interacting with human rights NGOs in the GCC countries.

The Minister said such meetings contribute in maintaining, boosting and protection of human rights and reflect the genuine intent of GCC countries to accomplish more dignity and human rights for the Gulf community with collective efforts of the GCC countries. (IY)
